The practice of yoga in terms of being able to sit with internal discomfort is fundamental in learning how to get over depression. Yoga really gets you into your body, and it makes you aware of your body. For example, if you are in a posture and it's very painful, the idea isn't to avoid the pain, it's to actually breathe, and sit with the pain. You should let your body fall into the whole experience and accept that the discomfort is there. This is a very similar way as to handle to painful feelings of depression. The key is to learn how to sit with your feelings, and be with them rather than trying to avoid them, run away from them, or get rid of them. It is important to care for yourself and your feelings fully and to learn how to tend to them properly.
