This is the second tutorial I have produced and this tutorial involves solving the 4x4. This one is just as easy to follow as the 3x3. Although, I suggest watching my 3x3 Tutorial before this one. It involves some prior knoledge of the cube.

      Is there any method to check the positions and the orientations of edges in order to ensure that a 4x4 Rubik's cube be solved a 3x3 one. This can avoid memorizing the long algorithms / steps for flipping edge orientations or positions. Thank you!

        When I start solving the middles, you said find an unslved ieceand replce it, what if I run out of those?
        And I dont get what you mean by solving it like a 3X3 after matching up the middles.

        • HELP!!!

          Hey man great video, but after the algorithum close to the end which helps line up the colors from top to bottom I ended up with the green and orange sides lined up, but the blue and red sides are messed up. The two pieces that should be at the top above blue are red and vice versa. Is there anyway to fix this? Please get me the answer to this ASAP

          • Yeah...

            I had this same problem with almost every two sides possible- just keep making the fish with the "spinny" move and eventually it'll either be solved or red and orange (or maybe blue and green, I just don't know if it ever happens) will be swapped.

                    • Good, but i have some ideas...

                      As a Rubik's cube slover myself, I believe I have the right to make some comments. Your first layer explanation was very good, well done for that. I do the second layer a completely different way, with one ultra simple algorithim. Your way does work, however it is very round-about. I line it up on the side it's supposed to be, so that it makes a T. (I don't flip the cube upside-down.) Then, if I'm moving it to the left, I do left up, bottom towards, left up, bottom towards, left up, bottom away, left down, bottom away, left down. Also, for when there's a middle edge stuck in the wrong orientation, i just mess up a corner to bring it to the bottom, do the algorithim, fix the corner, and redo the algorithim. It might be a couple moves lonver, but it is much quicker hand motions. I dont get your last side method at all. I first solve for a yellow cross with either a backwards L or horizontal line: the L: Front right, top right, right up, top left, right down, front left. Line: Front right, right up, top right, right down, front left. Then I switch corners the same way you do. Then i do the fish thing, except sometimes you need to do the same thing with opposite direction turns. If there isn't a fish, you just do either direction until you get a fish - you can figure out patterns eventually. Finally, i switch the center edges the same way you do. I've taught many people, and I think that the way I do it is very effective. Your way is great too, but i is a little counter-productive. I tried to make a tutorial, but it didn't work out as well as yours. You did a great job, congratulations. However, i would apreciate it if you could look at my way and comment on it. Thanks!

                          ok im solving a 4x4 cube and i got all of the sides solved except my blue top center and orange top center are backwards. . . what i mean by this is that on my orange side i heve the top blue center piece at the top and on my blue side i have the top orange center piece at the top how do i fix this or can it not be fixed?

                            i can do all of the steps fine and i can get to the last layer, parity. but in your video the corners on the last layer are already solved. mine never does this. do i do the method to solve the last layer of the 3x3 ( down left up right) because if i try that it doesnt work and ends up messing things up. another thing that happens is on the last layer the edge pieces are weird. 2 of them are right and 2 are wrong . but the method you show to switch 2 of them they are across from eachother. mine are next to eachoter. HELP. your video was great

                                      at what point do you stop with solving it like the 3x3? is it right after you get the bottom 3 rows? or do u have to do what i call the 9 oclock step?(face right, top left....etc)

                                          Awesome video, I have the same problem, two corners are flipped, red,yel, green on blue red side and red,blue, yel, on red green side. I have solved it before thanks to you, but I have ran into this twice now.

                                              I think its pointless to make a tutorial for something I don't use. I also don't see a need to make a video on that for only one person. You can google search how to do that though and I'm sure you'll get very good tutorials.

                                              But before you do that, try to set up the centers, thats the first step. Then from there, all you need to do is align the edges.

                                            However, there's a problem with the sound - it would seem that the microphone is far too close to your mouth. If your sound-track is in mp3 format, perhaps you should compress it quite tightly.

                                              I only have Windows movie maker, I actualy make other videos with my friends, not with Windows Movie Maker. I just need a better program. I use Video Edit Magic but its starting to become obsolete. I would like a better program that also has reverse video. I don't know if you know of any?

                                              Anyway, thanks for the props on my videos. It means alot, ugh, those took so much time to make! Although, the views are pretty good, so I guess it helps people.

                                              They all vary, I can solve a 3x3 in a minute, and 2x2 in like 30 seconds, and the 4x4 well, urm, I havn't timed it but I think 3 minutes.

                                              Anyway, it really all depends on the scramble

                                              And the 11x11 is the bigggest cube! Its really expensive I've heard and I wouldn't even begin to know where to buy one.

                                              They don't make any bigger cubes than the 5x5. Once you get bigger than 5x5 the axis or center would break way to easily. And the principles would be close to the same but differ in small ways.
