I guess you could leave out the water or cut it in half. I would highly recommend playing around with the recipe to find what works for you and your family. Though to me a half cup is already a small portion. You'd have to be very careful to not use much at all.

I put a teaspoon of Dynamo 2X in with the mix, and I must say my clothes never looked cleaner. I'll try some bleach too with my whites.

Dynamo 2x is like Tide or All, only a different brand name. The 2x means it is double strength. It's optional for really clean clothes.

This stuff goes together in about a third the time if you heat the water up before you add the soap! (it takes me about 15 minutes or less, quicker then running to the store and buying a store brand!) I've tried other recipes for it online, but this one cleans the best!

I actually use mostly the gel part for regular loads of laundry. I use a tablespoon of the liquid only when I wash cloth diapers.

If you are washing cloth diapers with this recipe, Ivory is the only soap I recommend btw since the other laundry bars add color and smell.6545839

you can use any laundry soap bar, the original recipe I saw called for Octagon but that turns it green and i use it for cloth diapers and can have no colors or smells

Instead of using a milk jugs, just buy 1 gallon and half gallon water jugs (same jugs, different liquids). Not only is it cheaper than milk, you won't have to "clean them very well."

Make sure you are using Super Washing Soda, NOT baking soda first of all. And real Borax. Then what bar are you using? I have only ever used Ivory but it works with any laundry bar from the laundry soap isle. My original recipe called for Octagon. If you've got all the ingredients right check quantities.
Also, it does take a day to gel sometimes so be sure you've given it enough time.
