ok, they fast, they cool, they win races, everyone wants one, BUT, they all nearly look the same, they all cost a shitload, they all butt ugly, and if you want a car for 65 grand that will kill it dead, have a look at the bmw K55 by racing dynamics or anything else these italians do. im sure if all you porsche lovers have a look at www. racdyn. com (no spaces), you will buy a bmw instead.
NUFF SAID. ps, dnt pitch the italians against the germans, vw make the most beautiful car on the planet, signed, veyron luvver

Ferrari was not made for the quarter mile, but for long term endurance (24 hours at Le mans, etc!) And design wise? Ferrari is a work of art, Porsche is a fancy VW Beetle, with an engine that sounds like my neighbors lawnmower! Oh and from what I hear? the new Ferrari 430 may also blow them away in the 1/4! (LET THE INSULTS BEGIN! LOL!)

          • What do you know!

If Ferraris are built for endurance, why do they break down all the time? I would trust a Porsche more than a Ferrari! But a Ferrari is a Ferrai and everybody would love one!

            ... you know the rest

if ferrari was made for longterm endurance ... why does Mercedes or Audi always win Le mans?

the survey where they were rated last i would love to see. everyone can talk BS - back it up and i might can tell you why it is the way they stated it. and i dont know what kind of lawnmower you have .... but a porsche sure sounds better than any other "rice" out there.

i would choose a porsche over any american, japanese or korean car in a heart-beat. theres just no comparison between the inventious germans and the copying asians ...

          • You are thinking of the wrong class

Ferrari hasn't raced in the Prototype class (LMP900 or 675) since 1999 at Le Mans, and the 333SP only won its CLASS at Le Mans in 1998 - the top six positions went to GT1 cars (which pretty much killed the GT1 class when they are beating prototypes that badly). The Audi Prototypes that have been dominating the Le Mans Series circuits for the past 6 years are just that, prototype race cars. Ferraris compete much more in GT and GTS classes, with mixed results, mostly based on luck and team ability. Audi does not compete in teh GT or GTS classes at all. Porsche is everywhere, GT, GTS, and multiple other race series around the world. But while Ferrari is a supercar with a racing pedigree, a Porsche is a race car that's been building their supercar status (the Carrera GT is a nice addition). If you HAD to catergorize them, I'd say Ferraris are about style and top speed, Porsches are about handling and light weight.

The dominating teams today for GTS class, the successor to the GT1 class that gave us the McLaren F1, Mercedes CLK-GTR, and Porsche GT1, are Corvette Racing (5 years in a row now) and Viper (Team Oreca) before them. A Ferrari won GTS class in 2003, and a Porsche won GTS class in 2001, but apart from that, every Le Mans since 1998's end of the GT1 class has been dominated by Chrysler in the GTS class. Even when they didn't win, they still got podium.

Personally, I'd take an Aston Martin Vanquish over nearly anything, with the exception of a Koenigsegg CCX, but who's keeping track of money at that point?

Porsche is only one proof of the German Artwork of Engineering!

          • Silver Palm,

If Porsche is a fancy VW Beetle, then Ferrari similarly is nothing but a fancy Fiat. Oh yeah, talking about endurance, you might want to check on Porsche's Le Mans (but to mention one) history.

Yeah the new Ferrari 430 may blow the current 911 turbo away but it won't blow away the new model that replacing it, which comes with 480 hp. Also Porsche is a work of art. They found something that they haven't had to change much over the decades that still runs with, if not out performs cars that cost twice as much as they do.

(that one finally looks good) BUT! THE 911 SERIES THAT is a makeover of a 1963 design, is NOT beautiful! (thankfully the current one is not as ugly as the "frog-faced" one that started in 1963, the updated one is not as ugly as the frog! Of course Ferrari lovers and porsche lovers (capital "P" deliberately omitted) will NEVER AGREE! don't go ballistic! this is a FRIENDLY competition!

          • HATE TO DISAPPOINT YOU

But my new 1973 de Tomaso Pantera "L" only had three things going for it: The price ($11 grand in 73), styling, and the 351 Boss Ford engine! The rest of the car was literally GARBAGE! tHE SEATS UNSTITCHED, THE SPEEDOMETER BROKE TWICE, THE WIPERS, THE THROTTLE, THE MASERATI zf TRANSMISSION (THREE!) the clutch, the AC, l could go on and on......I owned a Pantera but i was hitching rides! It had only a 12 month, 12,000 mile warranty, so l had to dump it before it was up! No way I could have aforded to keep it together. But the engine was flawless, and I can't help but imagine how much faster it would have been using today's techniques of eking out every bit of performance possible...it did 0 to 60 in six seconds, which was pretty fast then, and of course it was made for top speed of 140, not for the dragstrip.

Where do you get your info from? I have to say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and sound can be an aquired thing? Before you keep out belching out nonsence heres a little lesson in history.

Porshe #1 came out 1948. Where do you get 62 from?
As for Ferrari's. Nice, but I dont own enough gold chains, or have a lot of chest hair or a big ass belly! So I guess I will stick with my hidious Porsches.

          • can't nelieve

you didn't realize l meant the second gen porsche, that came out as a 63 model, you know, the one with the big bulging FROG EYE HEADLIGHTS! Here in south Florida there are 200 Porsches to every ferrari, and the porsches are more likely owned by the Neaveau Riche, not vice versa.

          • Well arent we sensitive

I am surpised I got a "(-1 bad)" for saying "Hairy Palm"? Lighten up,......that was funny. Back to preaching though. Its fine if you dont like Porsches to each there own, and I never did mind the little things. But the 63 Porsche is the last year of the B. Then two years of the 356 C which ended in 65. I sure that you, nor anyone else cares. But all Porsches for 1950 on to 1965 (356's) were all very similar in apparence.
The only frog eye looking thing I can think of is a Bug eye sprite....which is very cool.
