this is how it works.
as someone who was raised on dairies, i felt i needed to comment. the cows dont produce milk unless they poduce calves. the female calves are seperated and raised to be milked later. the male calves are raised for beef, either veal or the more common variety. as for breeding, you can either keep a male that has genetic traits you prefer and he can service an entire herd of cattle by himself, or you can pay for artificial insimination (pardon the spelling) through which you can choose from a vast selection of genetic material for the exact traits you want. its a buisness like any other.
