Someone with proper training will not get that close when engaging some one with a pistol. The bullet will kill you just as well from 15 feet as from 4 feet.

You NEVER grab an automatic pistol by the slide! If it goes off you will have an injured hand and will be distracted long enough for the assailant to shoot you the 2nd time.
You always grab the assailants hand and gun frame, never the slide.

that style of disarming will get you killed. thats like trying to take a knife away from someone by grabbing the point. when you move ur hand, they make an instant choice, fight or flight. most likely you'll be dead within the hour.
instead, grab the wrist of the hand with the gun and simultaniously whip around so that your back is to their front, and the gun is pointing in to empty air. and then you can either elbow the person or take the gun.

thats for a trained martial arts person. i think it was israeli. anyway, dont even attempt either formats as it will only get somebody killed. (not just you)

There is one huge flaw in this situational disarm. You are using a toy guy with no chamber action. Regardless of the fact that its dumb to try to disarm anyone unless its absolutely necessary this is a poor simulation. If during the disarm you grab the gun like your video suggests you have made a huge mistake. If the gun goes off, and it probably will, you will cause yourself a great deal of pain and intense injury. Feel free to grab the gun....but I'd like to keep my hand in one piece.

Yeah...if you had a clue how semi-autos worked, you'd realize that the slide just burned and sliced up your hand to the point you couldn't hold it.

Seriously... if you don't know how to properly disarm someone don't teach other people. This method is obviously bad. What if they are stronger than you. When u hold a gun most people don't have a loose grip. Sidestep? he can aim with a gun you know.... you didn't even bother to mention that there was a pressure point right near his thumb which you are suppsoed to use to loosen the grip first. PHAIL.

you can also:
1) move away from the direction the gun nozel is pointing at.
2) grab the gun with your right hand (or left)
3) With your right hand you can twist the gun by jerking your hand (not your arm) to the center of your body,
4) Now, if the person is holding the gun with their right hand, bring your left hand up, if the person is holding the gun with their left hand, bring right hand up and reverse the directions. (just like shaking hands), bring up your free hand and strike the elbow joint.

what this does is disarms them and doesnt leave YOU open for a counter attack, and possible losing your newly aquired pistol.

the training i have take suggest that if you are with in hand to hand range and a weapon is pull on you count to 9 seconds if you get there and have not been shot there is a 90% chance that the opponent will not shot this is the best time to try a disarming method.

If you are being rob the best thing to do is comply. Common sense should tell you that a wallet is not worth your life. Especially, you have never practiced this technique. So kids, dont try this unless your 100% confident with the outcome.

The technique is ineffective and will get you killed.

If you decide to practice this, make REALLY, REALLY sure the the gun is unloaded! That might seem obvious, but a lot of people have died over the years in gun accidents with guns tha they thought were unloaded.

This is not the real thing, so don't be too confident with what you are seeing, and gets training with real professionnal. Notice that if you broke the finger of your opponent it will be very hard too take off the gun...

Most street thugs hold their guns flat palm down not up right like that and don't stand that close either.

When I was shown it as a kid. I was shown several disarming methods. However when I actually tried it (with an actual paint gun) I was blown away that, even though the person KNEW I would try it THEY COULDN"T PREVENT IT.

the guy with the mask broke in and the kid got a gun to defend himself with this is really a tip for robbers and/or muggers who encounter rowdy victims with guns

We did testing with such methods. And it showed that trained professionals can disarm armed guy without being shoot, only in 25% of times. So please don't play with this and just do what armed guy say. This is not your job to disarm him.
