actually 37.280 glasses. It is a new worldrecord and it was done in the netherlands. The pyramid was 7,26 meter high. It didn't fall. They had to be just as carefull breaking it down. The glasses were used to engrave, after that they where sold for charity.
They poored just 1 bottle of champagne over the glasses. Only then the record would be set.

if they had used a hose and pump to fill the glasses - with colored water even - that would've been cool, too. But you can see the things wobbling already. I don't know if the pyramid could've taken the extra weight and movement of the liquid as it filled the glasses. And if the pyramid had been filled and then collapsed - how much bigger a cleanup! - CAREFUL CALCULATIONS
made it possible. top =1 glass...second tier=4 glasses third tier=9 glasses....etc. multiplied out until desired # of levels is accomplished. Each glass is sitting next to the others on same tier with no room between. Next level up is sitting on rim of four glasses for balance. As you pour champagne, it only strengthens the structure. Architecture Extrordinare!!!
