Or you could just buy a Pentium D 805 and over clock it on air to about 3.5ghz, or with basic water cooling to about 4ghz... PER CORE.

it works
like this, but is obviously extremely unconventional you would have to constantly continue to add the liquid nitrogen to cool it and liquid nitrogen really isnt all that cheap :) cool though.

this isnt a "world record" though. many science labs have gotten cpus up to 500ghz (100 times faster than this guy) buy freezing it to subzero temps like this
