even if i am not American (or a fan of American policy), I bet that this can happen in any country. And since that is an edited film (meaning that only the wrong answers are gathered together) we cannot jump to any conclusions. I don't say that the percentage of people not knowing basic things (especially in geography) isn't high but we cannot conclude that all americans are stupid.
I am pretty sure (since this is an Australian tv show) that there are Australians that don't know who is Captain Hook. Finding some in the streets and showing them in a show doesn't make Australians stupid, does it?
But still, this was really funny and that was the issue at the first place

the U.S. didn't win the cold war. noone did, as, u see, we're still alive :) and alot of the good stuff comes from other parts of the world (CD is invented by Philips, dutch company, magnetic tape for audio/video casettes is invented by JVC, Japan, insuline and peniciline were invented by a romanian doctor, and so on). but I totally agree with El Greco above, this is only an edit of the answers they got, in my country too there are alot of people that don't know where New Zeeland is.

thats what i believe - this video wouldn't have had such an impact if there were majority correct answers, and if u think about it there are people like those people in every country and seeing as there is such a large population in America your bound to find a few in one place.

as an american i was horrified the entire time i watched this. obviously there are morons in every society and mine is no exception just like australia is no exception. i knew the answer to each of those questions, there are plenty of intelligent americans. I guess what was so sad to me was how much of a joke we are to the rest of the world. I'm not saying we don't deserve it. This is actually making the interviewer seem stupid saying that because of a small fraction of Americans they say all Americans are stupid. You can tell that almost all of those people were nervous being nervous can cause them not to think clearly and give not so good answers. I am American I knew almost all those questions. We are stupid yet we live in a free society and we live more comfortably then a lot of countries doesn't sound so stupid to me. Please don't judge us purely on rumors, opinions, and a lack of facts.

I will admit this is pretty funny, but I promise we are not all idiots. If you interview enough people in any country you could make a video like this. Stand around long enough and you will find enough morons to make an entire country to look bad.

I guess I understand why the rest of the world has such a hatred against Americans, but too many don't stop to think that the general public holds no sway on the actions of our government, and that there are innumerable intelligent Americans who, if the governing of this country were up to them, would create a revolution that would make the US a country of nonviolence and benevolence that the rest of the world could look up to.

As stupid as the movie really does make these people seem.. someone cant honestly say we're all dumb. That's most definitely a hasty generalization. You cannot judge the entire American population based on 10 idiots.
This is, to put it bluntly, embarrassing. I know the answers to most of these questions, and it scares me that there are people out there who don't know who Tony Blair is (here's a hint kids, he's the only one who stood behind us in Iraq. Like it or not, he's our only ally).
