is toch wel van de onnozelste dingen die men ginder over het water heeft uitgevonden zeker?? Ik dacht dat die grieten eerst eens deftig op hun kop moesten vallen om als cheerleader in aanmerking te komen

  • give it a rest..

i think its awesome, that she is showing everyone her dedication and showing that she is okay.
cheerleading is a sport like baseball or football or whatever..
Everyone thinks its just hopping around and dancing but there's so much more to it..

  • Get Real !

Does it really matter? this poor child had one nasty fall and for that we should all be sympathetic. she showed a supirior level of spirt and enthusiasim. For that we should be thrilled. Dangerous, probably so but if she had in issues with showing her spirit her body would not have allowed her to act in such a way. If the EMTs felt it to be not safe they too would have stoped it. Be proud that we have at least a few people left in this country that really care about something.

    GOOD GIRL !!!

  • Hail SIU

As an SIU graduate (1975) I'm proud of her. Whether she was stupid for moving (or as others have said...her brain activity took over after the head injury), SIU Salukis have spirit. It's a great school with great students. GO SIU Salukis!!!

  • I have to agree...this girl is really am...

As a father of 3 daughters and psycho therapist, this young woman demonstrated amazing resiliency. I am not certain where the rest of the world is; sounds like some very pessimistic worlds views abound.

  • hmm

The only reason she's getting so much attention is because of her lack of common sense. I was a cheerleader in high school and was dropped from a stunt at a basketball game in a similar way..I ended up breaking my tailbone (which is very hard to do, so you can imagine it hurt like hell). I landed on my back and was not allowed to move (not that I tried). I truly can't believe the medical personnel allowed her to keep moving like that with a possible spinal- or who knows, could have even been brain- injury. It's amazing to watch. I'm at a loss for words now, I just can't believe
    1) that she would do that and 2) that the EMTs allowed her to keep moving..pretty absurd.

  • You are all pathetic

You all obviously have never belonged to anything that you feel is important to you. To make fun of someone else who feels so strongly about something is pathetic. Do you not realize that that was her way of letting everyone know that she was ok....Moving her arms was not dangerous for her. If she sustained a cervical injury and then moved her neck around then she would have done some damge. if anyone is stupid..it is you people for not getting a life of your own. Pathetic!!!!!

By leenie 1142528601 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
  • Very dangerous.....

It was a very dangerous thing to allow this injured patient the ability to wildly and strongly move her arms sooooo very much. She could have done much more serious damage. That's what makes her "cheering" on the stretcher so ridiculous. Just because she has spirit and loves to cheer, there's a time and a place....common sense. The emergency personal are very liable in this instance. Not a good medical deicision not to strap her arms down too!

  • Bakatare

There is a word in Japanese that best describes Kristi Yamaoka and that's bakatare. And bakatare means stupid.

    • I don't believe it was her.

She sustained a massive head injury. Her subconcious brain activity took over as to protect her programming but when the band started playing music on her vway out the subconcious responded with the repetitive movements that it had become so familiar with. So don't make fun of her.

    • Ur both tripping.

cheerleading isnt imprinted into your subconscious unless you walk down the street cheerleading. if you loked youd see her eyes were open and moving around, and she was still singing to the music. She's fine. probly just hurt her back

    • I agree!

As a coach and former cheerleader and gymnast, I had the same type of accident. Your body continues to go through the motions when you have a head injury. I don't rember doing it either, but was told afterwards. I too broke a vertabrae, but lucky for me, after much therapy, I was okay. Within an hour I was totally unconscious, and continued to lose memory of everything for 2 weeks. It's a scary thing. Cheerleading has come a long way in making it safe, but I still think they have a long way to go. Doing stunts like that on a basket ball court is just plain stupid! I wish her and the family well-wishes and a good recovery. I think they could use support right now and not be made fun of. I know she won't remember cheering her way off the floor on the stretcher. But I'm sure the public will never let her forget. It's not her fault, head injuries are strange. Get well soon sweetie! Hang in there! *\0/*

It happened at a Southern Illinois University basketball game in Carbondale IL, she ended up with a spranged neck and a chiped spine, but she'll recover.

Wow, she must be one of those dumb blonde bimbos. You shouldnt be moving at all if u have a suspected spinal. Im surprised none of the paramedics stopped her.

  • That is a true cheerleader

It is true courage, cheering as they carry her out on a stretcher.

By phonehog65 1141751176 Reply Spam [-1] Moderate Up Moderate Down
    • My ass

Real courage is fighting your way out of a stretcher despite a chipped vertibrae and saving some kids from a burning orphanage while shooting the terrorists that set it on fire.
Moving your arms around in a choreographed fashion after being strapped down is comical. And it is even funnier that she is serious about it. This is something straight out of a Christopher Guest movie.

    • Medical Advances Prevail

20 years ago when I was crushed by a 1200 lb crate, my employer, ( a large laser manfacturer ) did not even call an ambulance. Today I am permantly and totally disabled due to the degeneration in my spine. Irony? The latest proposed treatment for my condition, Laser Surgery. This is hopefull to get me off of the Fentenol Patches. I am 43.
