      can get a grip on ice under dry snow...which is what they were dealing with...anti-lock brakes are no good, nothing will help.

      how about taking your foot off of the brake, getting some traction, and using the gears to slow down?

    of driving in a situation like that is to have chains on your tires.Of course the best way is to just stay home.
    I'm not looking forward to winter driving again,everyone always thinks it's safe to drive as fast as in summer.
