Here is my flyback running on a 12V @ 4A supply. The arcs are impressivly big for such a low power input! I am using the single transistor driver circuit to drive it.

I am using a "flyback" transformer out of an old crt monitor, and a simple "single transistor flyback driver" to drive it. It is a very simple way to get high voltage!
