    This might be found spectacular by some but I start kindergarten at the age of 3 and graduated high school at 16. When I started school I could already read and do basic math.

    It's easy to teach your kids to read but with both parents working to pay the bills these days there isn't any time to spend with your child. I also know a lot of mothers that turn on the TV and plop thier kids in front of it for the day which doesn't work either. I didn't have a computer until I was 18, TV was limited and so was the use of the Super Nintendo. It's simple stuff but nowadays parents leave the teaching up to the teachers.

    Am I alone on this or is there anyone else who agrees with me?

    • I agree for one

      I could read and write cursive before starting school at 5 and it helped me a lot in later life. So I made sure my children started reading at 3 and writing at 4. We declined to have a TV in the house until both the first two could read and write. That not only helped them, but made it easier for us to spend time with the children in the evenings. I wouldn't presume to dictate to others and circumstances differ from one to another, but it worked for us.
