Insane Spy Mic!

Move the mic closer to the dish for more distant objects and a tighter focus, or farther away for a wider listening angle/nearer objects, but it works great in the configuration shown... 8D

I am not a elec. expert as you are I want to try this out but I cant seem to get where you get a drum loop and how its connected to the wok and what is a drum loop and why is it sitting on the steps how is all this connected the video jumps and some things are left out as I have said earlier. I am stymied.

I was wondering if you are going to make another video to clear up a few things, like how to connect the mic to some ipod earphones or something and also, does this mic need to be powered? If so, what do you use to power it and how do you connect it to the pwoer? It would be great if you could another video about that, keep them up man as I really want to try out your idea!

its a good idea

some cats have a way of exploring the neighborhood and getting themselves unknowingly shut in when people close up their garage, or if a stray is keeping your cat scared away from home. you could go out at night with that, calling for your lost or missing cat, and aiming it this way and that to hear the faint call of when your cat calls back to help track it down.

I made one of these, the first thing i heard was my wife shagging my best mate, he lives 2 streets away.

There is a central focal point when waves hit the dish parallel to any line of symetry in the parabol. So to find this point i would put a small length of wood in the center of the dish and then shine a small light or laser to see how far out from the base the focal point is. If you put the mic here the range will be greatest possible and the precision will be optimal.

If you want really good parabolas for this find an old spot light or something. I have done something similar with air-feild lighting parabols.

I did this a while ago, but with a little tweak: use a second identical microphone placed BEHIND the dish and substract the two signals to eliminate background noise. The results are amazing!

where did you attach the mic to so you could listen to the sound while moving around?

I picked up a cell phone headset for $2 at Big Lots and a large plastic Halloween candy bowl at Walmart for $2.50. Hopefully, this work out for me.
