    white screens only use more power if you use a CRT monitor (the old school 400lb dinosaur monitors) an LCD uses the same power for any color, and can actually use less power showing the WHITE screen. anyone still using a CRT, who this would actually help, would save a LOT more power, and in the long run, money, by switching to an LCD monitor.
