I'll show you how to make one of those cool lightning globes with only $5 worth of parts. Just in time for Halloween! Also known as plasma globes, these work because the high voltage activates the gas inside the globe. Different gases give you different colors.

its the amps that kill you. the shock from a door handle is about 10,000 volts but only a few microamps. a high voltage transmission line is about 500,000 volts and the human body is about a 500,000 Ohm resistor, ergo, 1 amp passes through you and you get fried.

In my case, this particular monitor has a safety feature in it that discharges the voltage immediately.
Most TVs and monitors that I have seen do not do that.
Color monitors push out closer to 30,000 volts. It will certainly get your attention!5848172
