    fine, whatever, but just to clear up everything else - My bird is NOT RETARDED - JUST SILLY, FUNNY, AMUSING, are those better words??? She is very intellegent, she is out of her cage all day, she gets TONS of attention, NO - she's not bored, she has a TON of activities and toys to play and chew with. NO I AM NOT A BEGINNER BIRD OWNER, I've worked with parrots for years. I just thought it was funny, but sure, if i think it's funny, and you don't - then i'm retarded. ok, fine by me - boohoo - jesssh! people don't have a sense of humor these days... well, mind you my humor is a little more twisted, and being called a retard is a mild name for me ; ) - Just don't make fun at how I walk - ok?

      I think Skittles is very cool, and it's okay to believe your pets aren't . . . um, gifted. (Or are they "differently gifted" now? I've lost track!) I love my dog dearly, but I must admit to continually wondering at his ability to pull off masterful stupidity.       Well, you have my support as being an excellent bird owner, so it seems, and I'd encourage you to keep posting movies of Skittles up here ^_^ I'd do the same with my bird, but I can't afford a camcorder. I'd like to see more of Skittles, if no one else does. If my roommate didn't despise animals, I'd have a bird of my own like her (my conure is roughly the size of a parakeet).

      mental conditions? my husband seems to think she has... all my friends and family call her evil, bird specialist say that she will grow out of alot of "un-wanted behaviours" she does have, example tracking and attacking anyone female or child (she loves hearing people scream i think) amoung other things... i'm still learning with her, and i love to talk to any bird specialist on their feed back. if you think you can give me any feedback on her, i would love to hear from you. (i've been around birds for about 20 years now, no specialist by any means, but i am a bird person, and is my first macaw) :)

    Haven't you ever had a dog that was, like, big and kind of lunky or whatever and you'd affectionately call him a dopey dog... you don't mean it. She obviously doesn't think her bird is -really- retarded, it's a term of endearment. This bird is clearly not neurotic... that does happen in underloved birds but it doesn't appear so here. Stop giving her a hard time, she was nice enough to share her home movie with you.

    If you've got any more video of Skittles I think that would be fun if you posted it. Don't let them razz you. I am curious, can you translate what we're hearing Skittles say? Because I can't understand some of it.

      well, skittles is a female, and ever since i got her, i always say "good girl!" but somehow she picked up "good boy!" ? hehe and she's also saying "byebye" and "up" (that's her favorite word) she follows me around the house everywhere and calls me "mum" - today, she is going rollerblading. just like the family dog! and i'm glad you enjoyed skittles! thank you! : )

    2nd most intelligent pet bird next to the African Grey. Pepper passed away but when he was alive he was smart enough to unlock every opening in his cage and even when it was locked with a clip. Parrots are very smart pets but also require plenty of attention and lots of care. Definitely not a pet for a beginner.
