Easy cheap and takes minutes. Run on simple cooking oil. Lasts for hours. Either use for pleasure or you can make some if there's a power outage and you have no candles in the house.

This is great! I'm glad to have a way to make my own so I can know that what I'm burning doesn't contaminate the air in the house. Most candles have lead-based wicks or coloring and petroleum-based oil or wax ...I would also be sure not to use lead-based metal thingys (test with magnet; use metal that's not attracted to magnets). Thanks for sharing your idea.

wont the metal be too hot?
i mean it does look nice... but err.. i really think the reason why they made candles out of wax because melting kinda cools things up a bit. Care guys... but ima try this out myself.

- Funnily enough...
  Two days after making them thats exactly what happened. Had a power outage but the TV and DVD player still worked ok??? Wasn't just my house but the whole street... only in Thailand. Candles came in handy tho ;)

  about having a knowledge about simple ideas like how to make alternative stuff about some simple things like a candle coz you'll never know where and when you might need them ideas like McGyver do in the TV series. The good thing about Small and simple things like candles and or metal candles? Make our life simple and easy... Neat trick, BUT
I would recommend only using stainless steel or brass fittings. The plating on regular steel fittings might vaporize and create toxic fumes.
