According to a recent poll, 49.3% of the people in

New York believe that the U.S government knew

that the 9/11 attacks were planned and that it was

an intentionally failed act. And lots of people believe

that we didn’t even land on the moon or that JFK

wasn’t killed by Lee Harvey Oswald but by Lyndon

B. Johnson. Are 49.3% of us just fucking crazy!!! I

believe that people are fundamentally skeptical and

dont trust the explanations they have. This mistrust

of an additional explanation motivates them to go

looking further until they can find out what they

think is a more convincing explanation. Being

skeptical is good, but

looking at footage of 9/11 and having your first

thoughts be “This was a hoke staged by the

government”, well that takes a special kind of

asshole.



I believe that conspiracy theorists like all

sorts of theorists take disparate facts and put them

together. But what makes a conspiracy theorist a

little bit different is that they put the facts together

in alternative ways that are tinged with a kind of

paranoia. These ideas with no basis and fact keep

popping up because people hate thinking that in a

flash of an eye suicidal terrorist can come in and

crash airplanes into the World Trade Center, but

they would much rather see that there was always

a system there, or some overriding explanation that

can

let us make sense of the world. But the question

still stands, wasn’t 9/11 enough of a conspiracy to

make the theorists happy. Religious fanatics

directed by god conspired to use planes as suicide

bombs; they conspired to demolish an American

landmark to kill thousands of people and to crush

the economy, liberty, and spirit of greatest nation

on earth. So they did it on a low budget with a pure

cunning and psychotic determination. Don’t the

conspiracy nuts realize that sometimes something

simple and small and crazy and mean can destroy

something big and strong?
