Seems more like a lesson in leadership
How many ants approached the gap and turned back. We might imagine the first few were just discovering it and left to report back to someone in charge. Then there were those that had to come and see for themselves in order to confirm what they'd heard. Finally, one of them realizes it can be done and begins to reach across. The leader not only leads by example, but also manages to get the others to stop running around like idiots and do something positive.
