most vissoneer scanners... are 12V... i rigged one of these lights.s in a similar fashion.. for my vehical makes a killer cab light and lasts longer..

The NSA? Well, even if you do I would guess you would deny it of course. I don't know anything about you, but if you ever need a job, just send a letter to NASA, I know your cut out for that job, Besides, I think they can help you build your spacecraft too. =D
You could connect the motor you found in there with the lamp to make a light show!

The coolest part about the video isn't that you can make a light. The coolest part is simply realizing that there are a lot of essentially free parts you can get just by taking apart the old scanner. Nice work!
There is a green LED, a bunch of clips, a spring or two, a magnet, a nice solid steel rod, double sided mirrors, the glass from the top....etc.

this is a very interesting video... now I have a new project to do... to make some light for my keyboard... all I need right now is some old scanner :))
is almost as bad as mine! Mine is filled with old computer and Mil-GPS crap. Spring cleaning is a concept that is lost on me. I think it's due to my parents growing up in the depression era. They didn't throw anything away either.
