  • Interesting fact

    This was from an under 20 tournament. More accurately it was from the 1987 IIHF World Junior Championship. This was only a round-robyn game, unfortunately for both teams they were disqualified after this embarassing scene.

    Since the start of the IIHF World Juniors in 1974, 1987 goes down as the only year neither Canada nor Russia won a metal in the tournament. Where the USSR and CIS teams are counted under "Russia". CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) includes the Russian Federation and they won the gold in 1992.

    Both Canada and Russia have boycotted the World Juniors at times. However, 1987 is the only time both Canada and Russia have not won a metal... and it was because of what you saw in the video!

    Let the record show that Canada was winning 4-2 at the end of that brawl. But that's just because we're unbeatable (please forget the last Olympic showing).

      america has actually one a few times against canada and russia in hockey but both countries play hockey at a higher level. but NO country will EVER level with the US in baseball, basketball, and football

    Hehe, the russians kicked their ass! They even won the game anyways it was 2-Canada and 4-USSR. The hockey team rules but i dont agree with their goverment, thank god it is stabilized now.
