When this video is done playing, REPLAY IT to hear the audio illusion. It took me MANY hours to make this tone perfect, it was very tough. Please rate high if you like it 5/5, Thanks!
Great job man, very cool illusion. 5 Stars for you. I hope you make some money off of this.
By matthewdb 1191894377there are 3 octaves. we'll call them low, mid, high. You can hear the low the entire time while it goes up the scale. the mid and the high are the ones creating illusion. First half of the scale, the high octave is more dominant (in volume or what we hear), but that slowly changes. As if I'm slowly tuning the volume of the high down while I turn up the mid. By the time it gets to the end, the mid has the relative volume and the pitch as the beginning of the high. Well, now that I think about it... there might be 4 octaves. the low might be doing the same thing with 2 different octaves, but I can't tell.
By quad0212 1191878472ok...I think I really got it....
3 octaves.
Low octave end at the beginning of mid in pitch.
mid octave end at the beginning of high in pitch.
high octave slowly decrease in volume.
multiple tones over so the next tone you hear is the next up the scale very good 5/5
By tiltonkG 1210470451In the middle of the tune, the tone goes down by a semitone... Maybe more... You don't notice it because it starts a new bar of melody.
By DeviousEgg 1191845197This is actually a very old illusion found in museums around the world..... This is all around the internet and has been around for decades.....
By yish 1267378218Yeah, this a cool one! I thought so already when I heard it for the first time, when I was studying Musicology - in 1990...
There is a similar one that's even cooler, with an eternally falling note.
You have to replay the video when it's done (as soon as possible) and the sound will sound like it continues to get higher in pitch.
By JoeFreeza 1191878539there's a bunch of overtones going on, as well as like 3 or 4 octave intervals. When the note reaches the 12th 1/2step, and you hit replay, you hear the 13th (octave) and NOT the lower note, because it just sounds more natural after the last note. The brain probably doesn't want to do the extra work of counting back down to 1
By satch69 1191862168Ok am I the only one that only hears the same sound repeating it self?
By hannsi1337 1192045419Yup, seems you're unique. Maybe you should apply for the next series of 'Heroes':-)
