I have some skater friends and so when I say that generally skaters are looking for trouble I don't mean all skaters but yes, generally most skaters graffiti and obstruct other peoples property why do think people have signs that say not skating on their business or property its because they know that skaters have no respect for other peoples property. The security guard was acting like a total loser. Yes, he does has the right to evict the kids off the property since they are illegally skating in a private property and filming the area but, I mean, come on throwing those threatning comments toward the kids, think his king of the world? what a loser. The guard followed them off the building's property onto a public sidewalk. He stole the skateboard, and assaulted the guy. The skater was defending himself. A security guard has no authority off the property he is employed at, and he broke the law.

Yes, the guard was a little less than professional, but the kid made the first physical move by jumping on the guard when he grabbed his skateboard. The guard never touched him up to that point. The guard tossed the punk with a good throw, and the punk came up swinging wildly, making a few punches conect but many just hitting air. When in close the guard threw several punches to the body indicating he knows how to fight. All the punk managed to do was untuck his shirt.

True the skater probably should not have been there in the first place but the security guard crossed the line and broke the law. First of all, you ask the subject to leave after you tell him why. You give him three warnings each time saying you will notify the police if he does not leave. After you give him three warnings you call the police. You never make physical contact whatsoever. This security guard did not follow this procedure, he also started the tention by threatening the young man. This is classifide as Menacing, this is a Class A Misdemeanor. This security gaurd also followed the young man out of his jurisdiction, which is also against the law in this case. The gaurd lunged at the camera because he knew he could lose his job over what he had just said as well as possible jail time. He did this twice. The young man probably should not have touched the gaurd with his skateboard but the gaurd had no right to take it. That is unlawful confiscating of personal property, which is also against the law. When the young man went at the gaurd it apeared that he was only trying to get his skateboard back. The guard assualted him by throwing him on the ground, in this case it would be assualt in the second degree. This is a Class B Felony. If you will also notice that the gaurd is wearing a radio on the back of his belt. Why didn't he call for backup when the situation escalated like your supposed to. He knew that he was in the wrong and he would loose his job and would be facing jail time. There were many witnesses to the fight. The police should have been called immediately after and the gaurd should have been arrested for assualt, menacing and by living his jurisdiction. The video clip itself would have been enough evidence to get him arrested, plus all the eyewitnesses. This video makes me sick to my stomach to think that there are people out there that are in positions of authority like that. He probably goes to work every day thinking he's going to teach someone a lesson. That day it happened to be a young skateboarder.

security officers aren't there to protect you they're there to tell you what not to do and they enforce it

To all those skaters or former skaters that say they never made a mess, or damaged anything, I say: You must be one in a million. In my experience teenagers usually have nowhere to go and nothing to do, so they loiter. During thier loitering they eat and get bored. When they eat they make a mess, and when they get bored they start getting into trouble. It isn't usually anything that is terribly bad, but when you have to give trouble to a dozen youngsters in a day, your patience begins to wear thin. Since none of us knows what happened either just before the camera kid started taping, or in the days or weeks before the incident, we cannot know whether the gaurd was justified in his anger or not. Certainly he was not justified in uttering a threat, or in grabbing for the camera. In grabbing the camera I believe he slightly injured the boy holding it. This would be the first 'assault' in the video I think.

As for the little girls who say they would have gang attacked the gaurd I say: knee kicks stop kids in thier tracks! Oh hell yes... your true colours show thru... sneak attacks and ganging up... yappy cowards in my opinion.

First off, I'd like to say that you people have NO idea what skateboarding is and what it takes to do and the amazing feeling you get from doing it. Second, we've heard everyone "protecting" the security guard so I'll say this- One: the skaters didn't just show up with a camera just to film a fight like this was the first time. Skateboarders film almost ALL THE TIME. Two: that guard was an asshole and if he can't dish out the right amount of "securing" for the situation he shouldn't have that job to begin with seeing how he is mentally unstable. Three: The kid might have "egged" him on but that's no reason for the guard to act the way he did. Four: They were off the property so the guard should have left at that point or just stayed on his side of the "line" . At the point of attack the security guard is no longer doing his "job" or in his jurisdiction of whatever power he thinks he has, he has become an assailant taking out his anger on some kids who skateboard most probably as a positive outlet for their problems or frustrations. Running into assholes like this "guard" make skate boarding and skateboarders look bad. It's not what we intend to do, but if a guard provokes us, then sobeit. When I worked nightshift in a gas station across from the bar, I had to take on a few troublesome teens myself. Got into many fights. That kid was counting on getting in a fight that day... his friend was after all ready with a camera. I would guess that the security gaurd had spoken to them before about hanging around there. I work in the recreation industry and I know how tough it can be to hold your temper when a young fool decides to lip off. I personally feel that both those lads needed a boot screwin for thier attitudes. By enshrining the myth that all children are good and a man must be a monster to slap a brat is ludicrous and is a large factor in the problem of youth crime. The security gaurd was wrong to take the boys skateboard but there is a time to assert authority. Anyone who would let those guys get away with that would have more trouble later anyway.

I am simply sorry that he didn't beat that little jerk a bunch more... you can see they were setting him up for the fall... probable jail time and certainly loss of employment... yep a real good looong hospital stay would have shown them the wisdom of at least faking respect.

First off thouse kids turned on the cam after this stuff started, so you know they were talking smack. Second they were not just leaving he was standing there trying to bait the guy into doing something. Every time the cam went to a distance and came in close so you could hear you could her that smart kid change his tone. Guard was lucky as hell the punks didn't all jump him at once. He was totally unprofessional, and exposes himself and the property owner to some pretty heavy liability, at least by weak-kneed American standards. Well i work armed security and i have to deal with punks like that, however, I've never threatened kids nor attacked. I don't think the skaters should have been treated in this manner. There are worse things that boys or anyone for that matter can do out in the streets. These are boys just being boys, the guard should have used some common sense - He obviously has issues.

The kids were obviously provoking the guard. Trying to get him in trouble by provoking him on camera. He shouldn't have taken the bait. When the skateboard hit him on the leg. He felt justified in taking the board away. After the kid came after him he probably was justified in defending himself because he felt threatened. The problem, in my opinion, is that the security guard had no business on the sidewalk.

The guard had a difficult job to do, the kids were typically big-mouthed teenagers, all posture and no substance. But it was not necessary to try grab the camera, nor to hit the kid, however annoying his stance. Now they are all of them the guard's enemies, they may try to provoke him, and that behaviour might cause trouble, or damage, to the building he is paid to guard. A better negociator might have managed to befriend them and persuade them. or a better architect would make the place less attractive to boarders.

Parents refuse to train their kids, when effort is made, the kids are too stubborn to change. Why didnt the fool walk away at the first second and third demand, he wanted to upset the guard and he succeeded. he wanted to get into a fight, he succeeded. He wanted to beat up the guard, but he failed to succeed. He got what he asked for or what he wanted for the guard...a beating.

The kids should take up kickboxing, to show thugs like this guard where to get off. The kid was just defending himself.

First, this video started off AFTER things became heated, you can see the security guard was already escorting the kid away and talking to him so none of us knows what happened before the video started. The kid is being extremely obnoxious to say the least and the guard let it get to him.
Second, no matter what the security guard has said at this point the kid pushed his skateboard into him making things worse. Believe it or not, legally that constitutes assualt and probably with a deadly weapon since he can pick up the skateboard and hit the guard over the head with it.
At this point the guard has grounds to have the punk arrested, but lets things get way out of hand by returning with punches, now both are under aggravated assualt and disturbing the peace.
The kid was way off base and the guard let things escalate and get out of control, both should be arrested and taken to jail.

As I already explained the guard only did his job throwing him out of private property but should have NEVER touched him whilst on the pavement. I quote 'd'

Then, I would get this guy after he left the job, make sure there were no witnesses, and put the guy in intensive care.
