Thank goodness Alex Ferguson doesn't have your attitude or United would never win anything. I didn't hear any fans complaining when they picked up the 'Mickey Mouse Cup' against Wigan.

      Having been at the match, I couldn't help but laugh as spotty teenage (and slightly older, it must be said) Man Yoo fans jeered 'but yeh haven't won the European Cup, have yeh?'. No, mate. But we weren't playing in the European Cup tonight. We were playing you. At Old Trafford. And we won.

      get good enough to join the big boys in the EPL and do it week in week out against top oppo. There is always a time for a freak cup result against a second team but over 38 games in arguably the best league in the world it's a different story.

      I'm afraid that your comment again, entirely misses the point. Is Manchester United as a team and a club better over 38 games in the EPL? I presume so. They're the best team in the country.

      But on that night, they were beaten, by Coventry City. 2-0. At home.

      One of the signs of greatness, an attribute carried by the great Sir Matt Busby, was graciousness in defeat as well as dignity in victory. It's fairly safe to say, with the responses both here and on the night, that the prawn-sandwich-eating, M6-blocking Man Yoo fans I have encountered, are simply incapable of graciously accepting defeat and congratulating their opponents.

      That, is a real shame. And kind of immature.
