At the heart of Maasailand, east of the Great African Rift Valley, lies a Tarangire National Park of wild beauty and diverse natural history. Tarangire's ecosystem - rolling landscape combined with the wildlife concentrations in the dry-seasons has endeared this area to visitors seeking solitude and spectacle. Oliver's Camp is situated on Tarangire's eastern side of the national park: it's a wild side. Opened in 1992 and relocated to the park's semi-wilderness area in 2001, Oliver's Camp is ideally placed to access the yearly migrations of wildlife throughout the Tarangire ecosystem, and to view the impressive concentrations at waterholes for a five to six month season each year. Being in the wilderness zone allows Oliver's Camp the freedom to offer walking excursions close to the camp, as well as longer walking adventures in the endless woodlands and plains habitat that surrounds the area. Carefully planned off road driving in the camp's open vehicles is another privilege enjoyed by guests visiting the area, something that is not readily available in other national parks in northern Tanzania.
