wouldn't a half empty tin of match heads just flare up slowly....the whole thing about explosions is compression...there was no compression or rapid expansion of gases in that tin...

Thats tight, i should use that on the coyotes in the canyon behind my house. and matt with charisma, there is expansion of gases in the tin, when the cap ignites the rest of the matches and caps, which ignites the totally awesome idea of matches and caps, the flame and smoke compress the can against the tape, and BOOM!

to those who don't think this would work What do you think makes a cap gun go BANG! the Caps contain Mercury Fulminate. (AN explosive, Google it or perhaps Wiki it.) Sure a Nail isn't that much pressure for ignition,,, unless you apply it to the point. and that cap would be more than enough to ignite the rest of the contents, not sure why you would want match heads as I would think that filling it with just Caps would be a better Blast. Also, find the older tape Caps that came on a roll they are more sensitve and it would be easier to elimate most of the paper leaving more room for explosives in the tin.

It weren't only match heads going in the can, the gun caps went in too. Just one of the caps was put on top of the nail, and kept in place by the lid. In such a case, if you hit the nail, that one cap will explode, cause heat and pressure which can't go anywhere because the can is sealed. The heat and pressure just might be enough to make the rest go boom!

The possibility of this working frightens me...

dude there is no way for that thing to explode like that. The fuse (red cap) can only ignite if you stomp on it or use the direct weight like you did. It has to be a direct hit to be able to explode like that. And what ever caused it to explode like that, was not match heads and explosive caps. BS!!

This is true crap, its just... the matches are not correct, you need to pick the brown whatever on the match totally of and fill the box really up, and get a better fuse...

The weight doesnt even hit where the explosion occurs. Looks like some one off to the right has a shotgun and shoots the ground to the right of where the weight hits the ground. Nice try though.

what did you really have buried in the ground?...theres no way one little cap could ignite all those match heads & caps.

i know the caps contain flash powder but when they are sealed in their own little caps it would be almost impossible for even one to detonate, ive thrown them in fires which have much more heat then this and all they did were go off one by one, not all together

I'm pretty sure the explosion was fake but the design and idea of this mine might work gonna try it out some other time
