This is a video of my $30 backyard foundry. I made the furnace from an unused paint can by cutting a hole in the top and one in the bottom on the side. I made the crucible from a 2"x6" steel pipe nipple and 2" cap. The whole thing is fueled with charcoal and is stoked by an air compressor. This is the 3rd time I've used this paint can and it is as strong as it was the first time. It got so hot the infrared filter on my CVS DV cam showed the red region as purple and flooded the background in a green tint. If you look carefully you can watch a strip of aluminum ducting disappear under its own weight. DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME!!!
