this is how they usuually fish for tuna. all the the guys do is find a school of tuna get them into a frenzy by throwing in food and just throw a hook and line into the fray and there u go.

That looks really a great catch for those fishermen. But that area of the sea is at the same the time the most dangerous. You don't want to fall off from the ship as my dad told me when I was young. Huge mako sharks and sometimes multiple types of sharks are at the same time feasting on the bounty.

I used to do this kind of fishing. Here in Hawaii it is known as aku fishing. Aku are small tuna. The school is located, some live bait is thrown into the water, usualky nehu (anchovies caught the night before) Then water sprayers on the side of the boat are turned on, you can see them in the video. The water spraying on the surface of the ocean tricks the aku into thinking there is a lot of active bait at the surface so they come to the boat. Then a 10ft fiberglass pole with 300lb monofilament tied to the end is used to catch them. There is a barbless hook with a feather attached. As soon as the hook is slapped in the water, a fish will hit it. After the fish is pulled aboard, it slips off the hook as you see in the video. I have done many types of work in my life but this was easily the hardest (if you include all other aspects of the job)
