Do It The Easy Way
In any version of Windoze simply open a 'Command Prompt' window, which from XP can be opened from Start --> Run and type 'cmd'. On Vista, Start --> Start Search then type in 'cmd' and in the window which opens, type 'ipconfig' and press enter.

If there is a router on the network, and it is wireless, you should be using MAC Address security, anyway, that is, only allow certain MAC addresses to connect wirelessly. To find out your MAC address as well as your IP address, type in 'ipconfig /all'

With all the commands above, drop the quotation marks when you use them.
