Apiti is a women's only dance dance of the Acholi people of northern Uganda. This dance was performed by former child soldiers based in Gulu, northern Uganda. Over 50,000 children have been abused and used as child soldiers in northern Uganda since 1986. A war has been going on in Uganda between Ugandan government troops and rebels of the LRA. Africa Project organization is helping these young women reintegrate into the community after escaping from captivity.
