California juvenile law attorney Ryan McGlinn answers a common question about whether or not your juvenile system case will appear on a background check.
In most cases, if an employer or interested party wants to pull your background check they will not see a case pending against you in the juvenile dependency system. This does not mean you as a juvenile, but you as the parent who is currently in the system for child protection issues. You would appear on the Child Protective Services database though and you and your family will remain there. So it’s not uncommon that your name should pop up if Child Protection Services gets involved in your family in the future. They will have a detailed account of your issues in the past.
