Music: Kevin MacLeod Once used as solid rocket fuel, because the reaction requires no oxygen. Sulfur and zinc react vigorously. The reaction with zinc produces flame and a near explosion. Sparks fly and smoke billows in this dramatic chemical demonstration. Please do not try this one at home.

I've tried this before, nice little experiment.
Since it reacts and makes zinc sulphide, would this mean that it would "glow in dark"?
you're talking about activated zinc sulfide, which glows when bombarded by alpha particles. try googling "spinthariscope"
By jasontimmer 1197023664 Reply Spam [-1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI am indeed thinking of zinc sulphide, I have heard about the activated but I remember that "non-activated" zinc sulphide would glow in the dark. Whether this is true or not I don't know, but I would like to have it confirmed if anyone knows.
