he wanted us to see that it was a copied CD and also, you have to remove it so you can install the mod chip that is used to read the copied CD and that makes the 'false copyright'.

Where I live in Costa Rica it is not elegal to make copies of games. Store owners sell xonsoles (every type) with chips so that it reads copied CDs. The copied CDs cost about 10 american dollars each.

My point is that maybe he lives in a country like mine. And there are lots.

Dude, you know nothing. If you could simply do a bit by bit copy everything would be copyable dork. There is copyright protection built into those disks that you need to decode with a hack, either software or hardware, usaully a soldered chip an in first xbox. Dork.

I bit by bit copy of a cd is a perfect copy of the disk. IE all the copywrite stuff is still on the cd.

Every single peice of information is copyed. Including the encryption methods.
Bit by bit copys are effectivly hacking the disk. Before you comment i suggest you read up on these things.

As for bodging the hardware thats for people who want to just use nero to copy a cd and play it. How do you think people get away with selling copyed disks and them working with out the user having to do anything with the hardware.

The discs for the XBOX, PS2, XBOX360 and other consoles ALL have data that cannot be read by standard copying equipment. The PS2, for example, had an area on the disc that was accessed when the disc was run, and this area was outside the normal track information (on the innermost ring) that a copying program sees. You CANNOT copy these discs without some hack to force the XBOX360 to ignore the copy protection. That's what modchips do.

So, stop being so ignorant and find out your facts before you go telling someone who knows the facts that they're wrong.

They could have done a number of things, but what they did is hack the firmware on the 360. It's confirmed and I helped my buddy do it the other day. Better go buy one yourself before Microsoft fixes the problem and you'll be unable to do it.

They have to buy the game in order to extract the files. The whole purpose of making a copy isn't to save money, its to sell the copies to people who can't afford the actual game. These are usually sold from 5-15 bucks. What the hackers are doing is illegal. They do it with movies too. They make copies for business.

if you burn it, the files needed to make a copy are destroyed. Plus, you would get the rental place pissed for "losing" their game.
