How do you know the guy was short shifting? The Viper has an 8 litre + v10 engine that is relatively low reving. It's big feature is its massive torque at low and middle RPM. No point in reving the crap out of it. How do you know what revs he was using? You driven a Viper and know the sound of the engine at the correct shift points? So what was the rpm he was using? What are the optimum shift points in each gear for this Viper? 5,500? 6,000, 5780?

The GSXR is quicker than the Hyabusa.

The Veron mfg claim is 10.8. It has tested any where between 10.2 and that claim.

Vipers are a big waste you have an 8.0 or even a 8.3 and can only get 380 BHP from it! That is total crap.

The Busa is not turbo-charged. it has a few mods including exhaust, chip, gear box and final drive ratio.
The Viper is supercharged and they claim 730 hp. That is probably at the wheels. Even so the Busa would do the 1/4 mile in about 10.2 secs and the Viper about 11.2. Stock, the viper does between 11.8 and 12.2 depending on weather, driver, model and tune.
Ultimately this Viper is faster but the Busa quicker, a distinction a lot of you people don't seem to understand. A turbo Busa would be about 1 - 1.5 seconds quicker than stock but very difficult to launch cleanly as it tends to wheelie.

Sure, from the outside the Viper looks good and delivers "wow" performance. But, because the Hyabusa is a mass produced motorcycle, at about an 8th of the Vipers cost, it has become relatively common in USA, Australia and Europe. The Viper is very rare in Australia and does have the "wow" factor. Perhaps you have to have a vehicle that everyone stares at, you wear your sunglasses, look cool and look at yourself in shop windows. Most people ragard this breed of drivers as wankers in their extreme form.

There are many examples where a modified, road legal car has beaten a Hyabusa either because of massive horsepower and modifications or because of poor rider technique.
A standard Hyabusa will beat any "standard" road legal car over the 1/4 mile and standing kilometer. One of a kind prototypes and specials should not be included.
Yeh, bike is always going to win in the case of a lightly modded Hyabusa vs a supercharged Viper. That is in respect of accelleration but not top speed. The car may have the edge by 10 mph given a long enough run.
