A couple of firefighters go into a flaming wood house.
Clearly a live fire demonstration for kids/family on a shed or hand-made burn building. Either newbies or over confident FFERs who thinking their PPE is fire-proof and not using common sense. Obviously for the demo they wanted to show off their PPE and SCBA and how they'd do a SNR I guess... As others said, if it was a 'real' fire, it's fully involved, its defense and knock it down keeping a fog pattern in front of you if you do any sort of interior attack or primary search if at all. Can't ventilate a small 'building' like that when it's flashed over and practically burning from the ground on up and over. Life Safety, you don't go in or let your buddy go in either... Aiya...
By tech2hire 1161738749 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveDude it really matter what type of ppe you are wearing regular structure gear and wildland ppe are not made for what they are doing but procity gear can but i get what your saying
By firejr17 1210901477 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThey should've never gone in. They ignored all the basic rules of structure firefighting and FF1. If they didn't have either of those under their belt - they should've never even been allowed near it!!
O.K.before dick head sees it i have spelt doubt wrong.
By tucksone 1191618470 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removealtruisimsucks you are a total w****r no dougt wholetime, surprised you were awake long enough to type your comment. From a 24/7 retainer there when it counts.
By tucksone 1191618141 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removethey got to be retained firefighters.
By altruisimsucks 1167836720 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveFirst let me say I am a firefighter so I can say from experience these are idiots who have no idea what they are doing. If there is fire in the doorway you knock it down first before you go in--not through the fire. Its not always commands fault for guys that have no sense at all. It is partly the officers fault though for hiring people like this with one fourth the brainpower of a ape. These people are a disgrace to the fire field and shows why idiots do not belong on the fire scene. Also you people that think we firefighters put our lives on the line everyday? The job is dangerous but we would never sacrifice our life for another person. I lookout for myself first my fellow firefighters second and civilians third. That is the order you are taught at the fire academy.
By firemanstud1981 1154172750 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removethis video is very real. HOWEVER, there is no reason those two should have ever gone in there. The thermal layer had obviously hit the ground. Flashover had happen several minutes before they entered. At this point nothing in that room is worth saving. They could have easily extinguished the blaze in a defensive attack.
Some of yall seem to think this is training. Yes we do make hot fires and hazardous conditions to train in. This was beyond those limits. The Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that firefighters wear is only strong enough to withstand several seconds of direct flame contact, that's not even a couple minutes. So the PPE is nowhere near "fireproof".
Hot fires? We do not make hot fires anymore. OSHA has put an end to proper firefighter traing by making us use class A materials and very limited Diesel and Gas. 15 Years ago we were buring Diesel pits and actual room and contents. We even burned downed fully furnished buildings. Fires were so hot and smokey that you got a real idea of what it was like to be in a real fire. Now with the severe limitations that have been placed on firefighter training, we have firefighters that have no idea what a real fire is like until thay have to go and rescue someone for real. The modern day training towers just can not provide an accurate feeling of a true structure fire. Yes i understand its for safety reasons and protecting the trainees. But its not good enough. We lose more firefighter after they face their first real fire than we used to. The point is to find this out while they are training if they can handle it. so when they come upon a real fire they know the heat and smoke and not treat it like its a controlled. These guys blindly crawled into a flashed over room....bad, bad, bad. Im so glad the safety officer was there to pull them out.
By rnewfy 1147551512 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removefirts of all this video is not fake!!! these firefighters were trying to do something possative for the community.
theres a saying in the fire service "train like you fight" these firefighters trained with this house not on fire first they were supposed to go in and put it out. the fire got too big before they went in they got tunnel vision and didn't see how big it got and fought like they trained. earlier they went in and out of this little house a couple of times. this shouldnt have happened.
stupid guys they are
By gecco 1144955160 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removehis he stupid or what?!
By magalhaes 1144836581 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removei see this video in my firefighter formation ...the story are :
a yong new firefighter take two childs in a group to show how the fire react ....but he let the child go inside the wood house ..(stupid move) you can see the captain at the end puch the firefighter and remove child from the fire.. ( sorry for my english im french)
was stupid for even going in.......but the second guy was even dumber because he was mindlessly going to follow.
By sikatriz 1144805111 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removewas smart enough to get them out before anything extremely serious took place (I know, being burnt is serious but I'm thinking death and the entry of guy number 3).
I know a guy that was training to be a firefighter (haven't seen him for a couple years) and he had to go through these exercises. It's not all roses for the cheif or any experienced firefighter in charge of the training programs. Unfortunately, everyone thinks that those fire suits are 100% flame retardant but they're not. Going through as much class as a trainee does before they see flame there's always some dumba** that doesn't think before he takes action.
They are worth respected!
By wolfdale 1144796077 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveSomeone that is worth respect is someone that can think before they go in. Would you respect a pilot that gets drunk and crashes a plane? These guys were not trained right or did not pay attension in classes.
By firemanstud1981 1182847108 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI admire every single one of them...
Every day they put their lives at stakes...
And about that The Fire Chief should be fired is totally wrong...He where just to prepare them for what that can happen,But the problem is you can't control flames...
Had this been a fire a that did not flash yet, was not rolling over there would have been signs that it was about to that FFs are trained to look for such as smoke intensity of fire etc. This is so different. They went right through the fire and that is outragous. There was no excuse for this at all on the way of the guys on the line.
By firemanstud1981 1182847342 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveLooking for signs and ignoring them is bad enough. This time the fire was already rolling over and had flashed. The nozzle should have been opened at the doorway knock it down and then proceed into the structure. There is no excuse for this.
By firemanstud1981 1182847465 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveJ think that something goes wrong-maybe they didn't get water...
By bosston 1144795149 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThey had their line charged before they went into the structure. Training adresses air in the line by telling FFs to bleed off any air in the line by opening the nozzle before you enter the structure. And you never let the fire get ahead of you which means if its over your head you need to back up!!! There were so many rules broken here its not funny.
By firemanstud1981 1182847607 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveTheese firefighters are amazing! I admire them so! Keep on going! ;)
By Per O 1144786152 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveNo matter what you lookout for yourself first above all. They went in there thinking they were superman and I see this ALL too often in the fire serivice and its dangerous. As stated watch the video. They went through the fire before knocking down the fire FIRST in the doorway. That is elementary in the fire dept. Firefighters not ALL but alot are like cops. Give them a badge and they think they are perfect superman and a chip on the shoulder confident. Thats dangerous.
By firemanstud1981 1182846956 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveShould be fired for allowing this to happen. He put those guys in danger!
By Breeze 1143667935 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removehe put them in danger durring a controlled situation so they will be better prepared when the real thing happens. sending firefighters wearing fireproof equipment into a small shed in order to prepare them for going into a burning building will help them be prepared for the shock of the situation so that they will know what is coming and they will be able to stay calm and concentrate on doing their job safely when they are in a real burning building looking for people trapped in there. if my house was on fire, i would be uncomfortable having a firefighter coming in looking for me who is scared and has never been trained for that type of situation before.
By dyhgfdh 1144809482 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveFirst of all gear is not fireproof, it is fire resistant. The first guy got burned and comes out with his hood on fire. The only person who was paying attention was the safety officer who pulled them out. Im glad someone was there using common sense and good judgement.
By rnewfy 1147550394 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI think it was the guys faults. How could they just go in like that? They could see the fire for sure, right at the door. And they just crawled in!
By freebird7 1144797718 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removewhat were they trying to do, eat it?
By kidslug 1143068458 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveEven if there was something to save in there, it is guaranteed to be dead or destroyed in flames that large.
By Coolsam 1144796070 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removethis video is so fake
damn you are all dumb
except those who admire the firefighters
it was a training video chill
nobody gets hurt and hes not dumb
hes doing his job and saving people
god damn
its fake anyway
learn to spell
all of you
except the french guy cuz he has an excuse
and he apoligized for bad english
but hes still french
this is a trainging video gone wrong. I am a firefighter paramedic and these firefighters were putting on a demo for the public they let newbies go in and the saftey officer rightfully so pulled them out. If you notice the first guy in gets burned and comes out with his hood on fire. No firefighter would intentially put himself on fire. There are litteraly thousands of training incidents where firefighters are killed or injured every year. I have witnessed such events in real life and have seen events like this happen much too often.
By rnewfy 1147549609 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI see this all the time too. I call it the "I am a firefighter superstar" attitude that gets them in trouble. They think that they are the JC and can walk on water. Too much ladder 49 and backdraft.
