These are my pet cockatiels, they often try to mimic humans and each other, here you can watch and listen to them chirping in sync with each other. At times they are very noisy. Can anyone tell me if they are boys or girls? I have had them since 2001 and they were about a year old then. in his canarium LOL He/She would probably like a companion to get him to sing but if he ever makes a noise then go over and pay him some attention. Opposite for birds who make too much noise. Ignore them when they scream which is very hard to do. BTW those are two boy cockatiels by the bright orange cheekpatches. Boy tiels are usually better talkers than girl tiels. Go figure!

Technically no, you're responding to their noise when you do that and they're being entertained! At most give them a disapproving face then turn away and even walk out of the room if you have to. It can take weeks to relearn a responsive behavior. You have to be consistent. You should also reward them with attention when they're being quiet which can be even tougher because you're not thinking of them then.
