advise, especially medical related when you dont know what you are talking about. You dont get serum to treat envenomization, you will get antivenin if the bite is serious enough to warrant that. Many bites are "dry bites" where the snake bites to warn and is defensive in nature. Also all crotalid bites are treated with the same antivenin. The western diamondback rattler may be an exception.

    • Type of snake is very important

There are a lot of differnt species of snakes and it is important that the doctor know what kind of snake the bite came from. Each variety of snake requires a differnt serum.

If possible, get a good description of the snake or better yet kill it and bring it with you.

    • ok you win

you worry about finding the snake and identifying it.. i will take the victim to the hospital to see if the bite is dry or not if the bite is a true envenomation... the doctor will ask what was snake that bit the victim... and f it was not a coral snake i will say a pit viper but definately a croatalid. the antivenin is the same for all pit vipers, except for the western diamond back which has a blend of neurotoxin venom as well the normal pit viper venom which is hemotoxic. therefore all crotalid bites will receive the same antivenin.. the coral snake requires a different antivenin for neurotoxin.
