      This is a simulation of a fragment of Comet Shoemaker-Levy-9 impacting Jupiter. The comet was captured by Jupiter and then torn apart by the tremendous gravity of Jupiter into many fragments, all of which impacted Jupiter in July 1994. The impacts created numerous blemishes in the cloudtops of Jupiter.
