    It is amazing that the hyenas aren't
    killed by the lions when they are mauled. they must be very resilient

      I saw this program on Discovery Channel a while back. The hyena attacked at night suffered a broken back and died by next day. The lion that attacked it (and one in daytime shot) is the only lion in that pride totally unafraid of the hyenas and goes berserk at the sight of them... great program.

      I think I saw that program; they said the male lion had been named some gibberish that translated to "he who greets with fire". Seems appropriate.
