  I did that with my kipkay laser, too! It's pretty sweet. Did you use a 9v and a resistor or 3 1.5v batteries to power yours?

How much time will the phosphorescent material stay glowing?

- wrong wavelength.
  Green lasers have a wavelength in the mid-500s. To duplicate this effect, you need a laser that is near-UV, in the lower 400s.

  wavelength shouldnt be an issue since all the laser is doing is shining intense light onto the glow in the dark panels, but only in specific areas, meaning that only those parts glow.

- Oh, but it does.
  Glow in the dark materials phosphlayperson'soresce only in UV or near-UV conditions. Put a glow in the dark object under an LED that isn't white (White contains all wavelengths) and you'll find that it's not glowing. Put it in the sun, a white LED, or a fluorescent light, and it will. Why? Because the high wavelengths contained in the light energizes the particles of the glow in the dark material, and that is the deal. In easier terms, any light with a color "higher" than at least halfway through violet affects glow in the dark material. Try it anyways, and report back. I'm still intrigued at what it would do.

where did you purchase the blue diode laser- was it expensive - I have heard that some companies making blue laser pointers have been purchasing new blue-ray drives and salvaging these from them, but such a laser pointer runs a few hundred dollars!...a little too much just to have something to play around
