Check the laws where you live. This might seem silly, but technically this is a homemade firearm. The difference between this and a handgun is just the shape and the materials used, neither of which are defining characteristics of a handgun. The similarities are that it burns gunpowder to push a projectile down a barrel.

This is a good example of why most gun laws are really stupid. I'd hate to see someone get in trouble over a toy.
