    The jag is running twin turbos... it's no wonder it's faster in a straight line... If it's running the somewhat standard 20 psi, it would have the equivalent of 8.2 litres without the friction and with fewer smog worries. the Zonda would absolutely murder the jag if they traded that heavy friction-ridden v-12 with a tt 3.5 litre v-6 running 20 or more psi. it ain't gonna happen though. High compression V-12's sound and look too cool.

    I know the 220 is 4 wheel drive so if it is just a drag then the 220 has a big advantage up to about 60mph/100kph then the zonda should be much faster. I agree that round a track I believe a 220 would have no chance.

      you are right. The Corvette Z06 is worthless around a track. And american cars are poor at handling. In general, american cars are pretty shitty. And this is coming from an American. But i know 1 American car that can pulverize your XJ220, the Saleen S7. 0-60 in 2.8 seconds 750 hp. 700 lb-ft. of torque. The car is pretty much a Lemans racer with a leather interior. It would kill most cars around the top gear track.
      Id take the zonda anyways cuz they are well built and will hold up better than those XJ220s. In fact, the zonda would be the first supercar id buy. But you blokes did write the book on handling.

      For the entry price of $65k for a Z06 you can't beat the deal. .99 on the skidpad slalom 70.3 a 360 Modena does .96 at 67.4....Remember back to the 60's when Ford told Euorpe F#@k off and drug the GT-40 over and spanked the best Europe (Ferrari) had to offer and sent them home crying. Four cars placed in the top ten including 1-2.

      The XJ220 is to my mind the better looking car, but that's a personal choice.
      Only 281 were ever built, but then, how many zondas will there be?
      But top gear is not always complimentary about Jaguars, or about british cars.
      Their presentation is always somewhat tongue-in-cheek, which is why the show is so popular, and the presenters always argue about the cars.
      the starship enterprise would, I'm sure, be welcome to try beat a jaguar around ther race circuit. my money would be on the Jag, -star to star? I'll take the Enterprise.

    there always going on about jag just because the shows in the U.K outside the U.K no-one even cares, i'd buy the zonda anyday, did u notice the jag got a slight advantage on the start as well so it wasn't exactly FAIR do it at a dragway or something to make sure its as unbiased as is possible, also who are the drivers they could have a fair less experienced driver in the zonda for all were told.

    i saw one of there shows and there was a holden monaro up against a jag and another car(can't remember), and there were 3 challenges and the monaro succeed best in 2 of 3, the one it lost cause it had too much power, (which might explain the above clip, more power less starting traction) anyway at the end this top gear show the guys advised everyone to buy the jag? due to the look of it, even though the monaro kicked it ass.

    Okay, what the hell is a Pagani Zonda? It sounds like some sort of Japanese illness. When have the Britts ever made a car worth anything. Leave the muscle to the Americans. Jaguar XJ220 has 549hp and does 0-60 in 3.8 seconds but it costs $706,000 USD while the 505hp Chevrolet Corvette Z06 does 0-60 in 3.7 seconds while still in first gear and only costs $65,800 USD. How does it get any better than that?

      okay.. a mustang and a camaro.. both S**k and.. you can buy a supra that comes stock w/ 400 hp w/o a turbo.. so put a turbo in it.. it'll be pushing around 500.. well now.. you'd have to do a lot more to a mustang or camaro than just a blower.. blowers just bring more air in.. i think you meant to say SUPERCHARGER.. but that wouldnt make a difference.. the zonda would easily kill it.. mustangs and camaros are heavy as tanks
