  • great video

I noticed that in each folder I have an .exe file with the name of the folder. Example: I have a folder called Downloads, inside it, there is a folder shape called download.exe. It is repeated in all folders.Using this method i could remove that virus. thank you very much

  • But if I,

and I assume many other people, unhid and unsystemed every file on my C: drive I would have absolutly no Idea what 500 of the exe files on there would do. So how would I weed out the bad from the good?

    • hi

i think c: root doesn't have this much of exe files.
this solution is most sutable for pen drives and particular cases only.

  • not sure

i'm trying to use this method on my C:/ drive but i'm not sure if what im looking at is a virus or not. What i see is ntuser.dat, ntuser.dat.log, and ntuser.ini. and those are the only three that don't have the <DIR> next to them. Is it ok to delete these and are they viruses?

  • Good explanation

Thank you for sharing your useful idea but the problem with your video in the background, is that the writing caracters are far too small to read and though to follow with your explation. Your video quality need to be clearer and bigger (in terms of letters in the background). Otherwise, you did a great job!

  • ???

Is virus limited to only named as autorun.inf

Any kind of other infected hidden files other than this?
Thanks for the video, i still worry whether my drive contains virus or not...lol

    By seetruthis 1215442524
  • Useless

The main purpose of antivirus is to DETECT and after disinfect the virus. If you are computer professional this video is just useless. If you are usual user, better go to professional and use antivirus.

  • what if

there it any .exe or .inf files but u still have bad stuff thats making the com run bad!!

    By blackcard 1207439753
  • Good video

If you aren't sure if a file is good or bad just google it and look at the results pages. Research!

    By BIGFILMS 1204094034
  • Don't bother..

This is barely a solution to anything much less removing a virus.

You can do the same thing by right-clicking on "J:" and selecting "Open" instead of double clicking on it causing it to use the autorun (typical default action).

Real viruses and trojans are much harder to dig out than just finding a suspicious file and deleting it. Do you know what a suspicious file looks like? Do you know what files are supposed to be on your system and what aren't?

Just get AVG or one of the other ones and let it do it's job and don't risk screwing up your computer by deleting stuff you shouldn't.

  • BEWARE

As a professional who repairs hardware and software problems everyday, I can honeslty tell you that a large number of my customers are do-it-yourselfers who tried something because a video like this made it look easy. If you are going to attempt this I advise you be very careful! If you think you could screw something up, you can, and probably will. BE CAREFUL!

  • Scary.

Hmm... Good video for those who don't know anything about computers, which leads me to my next statement.

Why buy a computer if you don't bother to learn how to use it properly? It'd be like buying a car and not knowing how to drive it or perform basic maintenance.

All us tech support types would LOVE there to be some sort of test that people have to take before being able to purchase a computer.

To non-techs, this seems like an a-hole thing to say. I say to you, go work in a tech support call center for a week, if you last that long, congratulations, you are a rare breed of person.

    By sykotik 1200565989
    • what kind of tech support are u?

do u work in a call center, or are you one of those people who just format a computer to fix it and get paid for that?
i recently had a friend who wanted his computer fixed, and the guy formatted it fix it, and he lost about 50gb worth of music.

      By Robert K 1202618067
    • Surely if...

Everyone knew how to use their computers properly, it would put you out of your job :S

      By ThisIsMySeriousFace 1200696155
    • What a load of guff..

If your a tech guy, your sole purpose in life should be to set an individuals PC up to be as simple as poss. I always say that a computer set up properly can be operated by a novice - A very basic simple example Your clinet has to send an e-mail every day to a person - set a shortcut up for the user with the mailto:recipient and they never have to send one the old way again) becaue you only click on an icon and imput some text. Exam for a PC - what a plonker.

  • R U A NUT oar What

You do realize that some of the uneducated people who use this site just might try this and inadverently delete necessary system and command functions from there computers. WAY TO GO STUPID!!

The best defence against virus's is a good antivirus program, (at least it will know what to look for). Considering the fact that thousands of dimwhitted antisocial weirdos write compile and distribute thousands of virus's every day using your " system"/ you would be at your keyboard 48 hrs a day (an theres only 24 in a day) trying to find and delete all of them.
