Two 2 liter bottles do fine for us
A time-proven tip. We have 2 bottles in each tank for 10 years and save about 20% on the water bill. Do not reduce the water fill level, water speed is important for good flush. Older toilet bowls may S**k at this, though.

Toilets in Japan have two flushes, small and big. Germany has clever laws and toilets are required to have this, too, or a stop flush lever.

Nice idea but it doesnt work
i now have to flush the toilet 4-5 times to get it to flush... you cannot turn a regular toilet into a low flow toilet.

if you want to make a difference buy a newer toilet!

- uh...
  yes, if they are full of water, that much water won't be needed to fill the tank and shut off the float valve. So next time the tank fills it will draw that much less water.
  
  Somwhat effective, but no comparison to a true efficient low volume toilet.
