That is true but the combination is better because the hydrogn serves a thefuel and the oxygen as the oxidyzer. I've seen generators that powerbunsen burnes and elders but they are a few feet (squared) big.

I used a small mason jar, aluminum container, wires, bolts, nuts, and a 6amp car battery charger. Worked like a charm, the only thing i need now is tubing. I'm gonna tell my less than enthusiastic Chem teacher that we could've done electrolisis in class because I did it in my Backyard!!!

why would you want to remove the oxygen from the mix , it helps in the combustion of the hydrogen , and if you wish to get only the hydrogen you need to isolate the neg eletrode thats were the hydrogen is produced , the greater the distance between eletrodes the more energy needed to make the reaction .

1. How much energy are you using? ( 12 Volts at how many amps?)
2. Theoretically speaking assuming 100% energy conversion how many moles of HHO per Joule?
3. What sort of efficiency are you getting with your current design?

Anyway i have aluminum sheets in the second floor of my garage i was pissed off when gas prices went up and decided it was time for a fuel change. i found hydrogen. Also if you get the money for a new powers source you can go to Homedepot they have some strong electric fence transformers the can make alot of hydrogen in a small amount of time. i would record what i could afford to put together but my brother dropped my camera and it just stooped working i wa mad.

Its just that the salt added in the water as an electrolyte is giving the flame the yellow color. but then again my observation was that when i used baking soda as in electrolyte, the flame was still yellow for some reason. anyone feel free to explain!! Thanks, would help us all out here.

Instead of filling the bucket with regular water, fill it will soapy water...the Hydrogen will get trapped in the soap bubbles and create a column of hydrogen bubbles
Light, and watch the show... :)
If you do do this, tape it and post it please...
i'd like to see the gasses seperated also, but both are highly combustable so either way it works

Good work though, I've done something similar to generate the two for fun. Also check the gauge on your wire.
I plan to design one myself to make hydrogen balloons, or find a way to mix the hydrogen into some liquid, so it can be used on candles. It takes some research but its possible.

as for splitting. Check their density. Hydrogen is lighter than oxygen ( If i am correct) so if you find a way to have the gas separate in the bottle. you can have hydrogen gas at top and oxygen at the bottom.5454812

The whole process is retarded, you're adding that extra energy (using electrolysis from your MAINS power supply - generated by Combustion of fossil fuels (New Zealand - Nuclear Free, I know we're retards)) You're using that energy and adding it to the water to form Hydrogen and Oxygen, then combusting the Hydrogen to form Water again, The energy is all coming from your MAINS, there is no energy gained from your futile reaction, you are going around in circles (Not to mention wasting energy to heat / sound etc)
