this is best made using a
leather strap instead of synthetic rope - after making it tight, dip in water and let dry it will tighten itself and become rock hard, even if you don't put a marble inside

That knot is known as a "monkeys fist" it is used by mariners on large vessels when docking.

  But with practice you do it really fast, i did it slowly so people could understand the steps. What is really hard is to use a Basketball and boat rope, now thats tricky...
