Omgsh your so right! It's sooo much easier to carry around a sack of potatoes, tootpaste, salt, a spoon, 2 wires, 2 toothpicks, or better yet some duct tape, and some tampons.

now show us what you swapped into the potatoe to get the high voltage for a spark like that to jump across (high voltage capacitor?) when there's a cut in the movie, and you also forgot to mention that cotton swabs don't burn that nicelly all by themselves...unless they are soaked up in some flamable liquid (you can easyly notice how it bursts into flames all around before the cotton itself starts burning/melting)

I don't have a lighter but wait 10mins and I'll fire you up honey....nice job if it works

It seems to be based off the idea that one can make a battery using a potato and two metals. The problem is

(1) both metals are the same --> no potential difference
(2) cotton does not conduct well enough to light on fire except at very high voltages
(3) even if the combination of toothpaste and salt did something, the system is symmetric -- which way would the current flow?
