You don't need to use a needle nose pliers to remove the light buld base.....just heat the base over stove flame-don't burn yourself, or the house :) The bulb will begin to smoke (melting the glue) after a little bit, just twist the base a few times with large pliers and it will remove :) Be Carefull

Isn't there a special gas in the bulb that if you open it, it will release it which can cause suffication? Since when you drop the bulb, it blows up.

  Lightbulbs are just vacuum sealed. No deadly gas. You never actually break the inside seal anyway.
