By renjac1301 1253902802 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI think this is the best math trick I've ever seen. Now I can amaze my friends. I want to buy your DVD's but I don't have any US dollars. But never mind. Never mind, I think soon after I watched all of your shows, I may be the best maths student in my school. Because I always get bad results in my maths. Do you have fractions?
By mysakura 1234271935 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveOK so you have to carry in both directions
I would like to thank glad2teach for making this video, but I think that the instructions it gives dont adequately cover all possible situations (had to try the trick several times on 567 before I got the right answer and realized that the term "carry" was being used in a different way than I am used to it (ie "carrying" the 10's place of the number, but then keeping the number in-tact for further operations).
here is the example that I made for myself and had trouble with using the videos instructions:
567/9=63
the first digit is 5
5+6=11
carry the tens place to the left, KEEPING 11 AS THE RESULT FOR THE 2ND STEP FOR THR PURPOSE OF ADDING TO THE LAST AND FINAL DIGIT, BUT KEEPING 1 AS THE RESULT FOR THE PURPOSE TABULATING THE FINAL RESULT!!!!!!!
11+7=18 as the remainder
9 goes into 18 twice
thus you have 51, and add 1 to the tens place (from the 11) and add 2 to the ones place (from the 18/2)
that makes 63.
900 divide by 9... ;)
By yyaoming 1204112946 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeon the 2nd try, i believe he said '2d'
might be 2 digit... so carry 1 over...
I take the 9 and copy it down... 9. Ok whatever.
By Xiakanahan 1203575682 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIf you follow proper procedure, the initial 9 you copy down will change to a zero with a 1 to the left. Followed by two more zeros.
9000 divided by 9
copy the 9
9 plus 0 equals 9(99)
again 9 plus 0 equals 9(999)
now the last digit 9 plus 0 equals 9
but this time u put that 9 alone and see how many times 9 will go into it.
(999__9)
once so...
you carry the one back to the last 9
it becomes 10. you dont write 10 but scratch out the 9 for a zero and carry the 1 to the next 9 and so on.
I would like to add it to my teaching curriculum in elementary school. Wish my teachers would have taught me this!

May be because I love everything related to math :) Anyway, great video, nice explanation, everything is clear. Many people complain about this video but I can assure you that I will definitely use this technique. Thanks again, mate! and 5**** to you!
By mezon 1197886606 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeis that applicable only for the number 9 or applicable for all nine digits if not kindly explain for all

By IN VEN TRIGUE 1197839384 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeamm..
trick only works for 9... neat....but limited.
it can work with numbers close to base 10 like 9, 8 , 7 , 11, 12 ,13 etc with slight modification. You have an even better trick in Vedic Math ( called one line division ) for 2 digit divisors

By glad2teach 1198049197 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveBuddy, what if the number is 18232, the first digit is 2, 18/2=2 but how you do it it would carry as 1 8=9, thats wrong....
By Davmth 1197797566 Reply Spam [-2] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIt will still work, when if u carry over a sum greater than 10 to the next highest place, like when u get 9 2 = 11, keep the 11 as it is , but when u are finished adding, carry over the digits from right to left, then u will get 2025 and 7 as remainder.
